The realities of a desert.
For the past two days it has rained off and on. It rained so hard yesterday afternoon that the rain simply had no where to go and just puddled everywhere. Two of the small bridges on the base washed out and became a boggy mess when a small shuttle bus decided to try and navigate the crossing. We are told that you never cross a stream here without knowing what the bottom is like as there is far too big of a chance that there is some giant hole under the muddy water and your whole hummer could disappear. Anyway, the bus didn't make it and slipped sideways and almost out of sight. I have not heard if anyone was injured so more than likely everyone was fine. The dust from a few days ago is a thing of the past as now it is just a sticky slimy mud. It was three inches of powder and now two inches of mud. The weather has been quite cool but in the end all good things must come to an end as the mud is about to dry out and the good old dust will return. The desert will thrive for a time as everything in the area with any plant life will burst forth with color for a time, it will be nice to see a bit more green. Just like the harsh deserts of our own South West there is beauty in these far away arid areas as well. I'm doing my best to fine what can be called good. I love you all, be safe and have a wonderful day. Lincoln

Makes me glad that we don't have mud anymore here in Maryland. I hated the mud in Abraham, but it sounds like yours is worse.
Great post Hon!
It reminds me of living in Utah (but not quite as bad). Man there could be some great mud! And the next thing you knew the ground was caked and crusting.
Love ya!
Does it make you wonder why people live there? But then again, people live in North Dakota!
Wow, does it rain very often? I imagine that it doesn't. It reminds me of the time that Justin and I got the 3 wheeler stuck in the mud in Abraham. There was no getting it out!
